Japan Foreign Ministry on Friday quoted Katsuya Okada as telling Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for the Asia-Pacific Affairs, Mohammad-Ali Fathollahi, that the Iran-Japan ties are historical and deep rooted, so need to be upgraded.

He called on Iran to strive for 20 percent uranium enrichment to win international confidence in its nuclear program.

Fathollahi for his part urged talks between Tehran and Tokyo in different levels.

“Iran is ready for extensive cooperation with Japan in favor of Afghan reconstruction.”

He said Iran will continue diplomatic talks to solve its nuclear problem.
