Economic Relation with Japan in 2007 |
1 |
The volume of trade between Iran and Japan reached to
$14 billion in 2007 and Japan has been our main trade
partner. Our main export item to Japan is crude oil. In
2007, Iran exported around 515,000 b/d of crude oil to
Japan , which is about 12.5% of Japanese crude oil
requirements. Iran holds the 2nd most important gas
resource in the world. The government has been very
engaged recently in providing necessary conditions for
exporting natural gas and LNG. Therefore great
potentials exist for exporting LNG to East Asian market
in the coming years.
With regard to non-oil exports of Iran to Japan , one
can say that due to special geographical conditions,
Iran has comparative advantage in many agricultural and
mineral products. The unique taste and quality of these
products could be very attractive for Japanese market.
Bilateral economic cooperation has been developing in
energy, power plants, textile and other industries. The
government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has removed
non-tariff barriers and deregulated the Iranian market
in order to promote competition and absorb foreign
investment. Therefore, we hope with the guidance and
support of Japanese government and specially METI, the
Japanese companies increase their participation in
Iranian market
Nowadays Iran’s Free Trade Zones offer good
opportunities for production and export of goods to the
world market. |
